These are Renault's electric cars for 2024

Renault and electric drive – this is the story of a revolution before the revolution. For more than 13 years, the Renault Group has sold electric vehicles worldwide and is the third strongest brand in the electric market in Europe. With five different models, the electric range is extremely versatile.

Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric

If the Renault Twizy is too adventurous and not enough of a "car" for you, but if you are still just looking for an electric microcar without a lot of bells and whistles for the city, the 3.61-metre-long Twingo Electric is ideal for you. Thanks to its standard consumption of 16 kWh/100 kilometres, the small four-door car achieves a standard range of 190 kilometres with its 21.4 kilowatt hours (kWh) battery. In Eco mode and in city traffic – (then acceleration and the top speed are limited) – with an anticipatory driving style and thanks to three-stage recuperation, even up to 270 kilometres are possible – a top value for a city car. In addition, the three-phase charging, which can also be operated via app, is quite fast. With 22 kilowatts (kW) of charging power, the empty battery is 80 percent charged again after one hour. This is also possible at the normal household socket, but takes much longer at 15 hours. However, the Twingo E-Tech Electric can also convince with good driving characteristics. Thanks to its turning circle of only 8.60 meters and 82 hp, the small four-seater not only feels handy, but also nimble. It accelerates to 50 km/h in the city in just 4.2 seconds. With a top speed of 135 km/h, the city runabout can also keep up on the motorway and is therefore ideally suited for commuting in the agglomeration. And another convincing argument is the relatively low starting price of 24,000 francs, on which there are still environmental bonuses depending on the canton.

  • Practical city trolley with 4 doors
  • Handy thanks to only 8.60 m turning circle
  • Range in the city up to 270 km
  • Nimble and fast up to 135 km/h
  • Low base price

Renault Zoe E-Tech Electric

In principle, the Zoe is the electric counterpart to the popular Clio small car in the Renault Group and is considered a pioneer for e-mobility among the French. Now on sale for almost ten years, the compact five-seater is one of the most sophisticated electric cars on the market. Incidentally, the model designation goes back to the daughter of Renault Group CEO Louis Schweitzer (79), who was in office until 2005 and was one of the great initiators of the Zoe small electric car.

Even after a decade and a generational change three years ago, during which the look was hardly changed, the body of the Zoe still looks fresh. This is also underlined by the sales figures. Renault is the third-strongest passenger car brand on the electric car market in Europe and the Zoe continues to be the second best-selling electric car. The small electric car with 136 hp and a WLTP range of up to 390 kilometres is also still popular in Switzerland and ranks 4th in the e-car sales chart.

Technically, the Zoe easily keeps up with the many new electric competitors launched on the market. During the 2019 generation change, however, practically everything under the sheet metal of the Zoe was renewed - from the chassis to the brake system to the battery and the engine. Despite 25 percent more capacity, the battery fits into the same housing as its predecessor, but can now also be charged on a fast charger with 50 kW. There, the Zoe, which is available from 33,700 francs, receives electricity for a range of 150 kilometres in 30 minutes.

  • Proven concept for ten years
  • Weiterhin aktuell wirkendes Design
  • Vor drei Jahren technisch rundum erneuert
  • Fast 400 Kilometer Reichweite
  • Ausgezeichnetes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis

Renault Megane E-Tech Electric

It is the first on Renault's new electric platform: Thanks to the compact crossover, the VW Golf competitor of the same name with combustion engine will soon be completely discontinued. Visually, the electric Mégane is a successful success. Instantly recognizable, but still futuristic without being deterrent. Narrow rear lights and zigzag LED headlights at the front conceal the vehicle's greater height compared to the conventional Mégane. At the same time, the battery pushes the center of gravity down by eight centimeters, which has a positive effect on handling.
The five-seater rolls to us with a 60 kilowatt-hour battery and 218 hp of power – the basic variant offered in the rest of Europe with only 130 hp and a smaller battery is not available in Switzerland. This means that ranges of 450 kilometres are possible on a single battery charge. Important: In the future, there will be an upgrade of the charging power to 150 kilowatts – the first vehicles only had 130 kilowatts.
Inside, there is not quite as much space on the rear seat, but the Frenchman drives extremely agilely and is no less manageable than its lighter brothers with combustion engines. In terms of price, the Frenchman is on par with the competition from the VW Group (VW ID.3, Cupra Born). Are you looking for a cool electric car with reasonable dimensions and low consumption? The Renault Megane E-Tech Electric is the right choice for you.
